Processors on high alert over price hikes and force majeure
Rising prices for raw materials, energy and transport – coupled with increasingly frequent claims of force majeure by plastics manufacturers – are causing alarm among European processors.
In Italy, Unionplast highlights the sharp increases in production costs, which are affecting five thousand companies with over 100,000 employees and a turnover of around €18 billion.
This emergency – explains the association, which operates within the Italian Rubber and Plastics Federation – has been caused by sudden increases in the prices of plastic raw materials, instability in supply chains, rising energy and logistics costs, and extreme difficulties in production planning.
