March production is on the rise

Following February, March also ended with a rise in industrial production: +0.7% compared with February and +1.5% compared with March 2025, net of calendar effects. The result was driven primarily by capital goods, which rose by +5.8% year-on-year. Between January and March, the index rose by +0.4% compared with the same period of the previous year. Despite these two positive results, the average production level for the first quarter was down by 0.2% compared with the previous three months. Turning to the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, growth compared with the previous month was +1.5%, whilst the increase compared with March 2025 was +2.3%. In the first three months of the year, the increase stood at +1.2%. The sectors of economic activity recording the highest year-on-year increases are the manufacture of transport equipment (+11.2%), mining and quarrying (+6.7%) and the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (+6.1%). The sharpest declines, on the other hand, were recorded in the manufacture of chemical products (-7.8%), the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air (-4.0%) and other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-2.4%).
