The chemical recycling of plastic material has a global capacity of about 1.2 million of tonnes in year 2022, excluding the structures transforming the post-consumer polymers in fuel. This is stated by a recent AMI report. Europe is considered cutting-edge in the technological development of chemical recycling. In the next years, however, according to the report in North America the development will speed-up with a more rapid rythm. Approaching the last trimester of year 2022, the Industry of Chemical recycling has reached a significant threshold. After several years of development and announcements, the first implants are operative and a significant numer of structures should start the full activity during year 2023. Major capacity are in progress and the entry into service is foreseen for year 2030.
